Information Technology Specialist

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for a Full-Time Information Technology Specialist. This position is responsible for meeting the daily information technology requirements of Monroe County in the areas of network administration and general systems maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
∑ Directly assists County staff with the overall maintenance and technical administration of the network used by Monroe County
∑ Maintains all County Department automated information systems including, but not limited to, the AS/400 mainframe, GIS, personal computers, workstations, networks and peripheral equipment; monitors system operations; establishes user access levels; and maintains system security.
∑ Maintains employee user accounts on the network to include the setup and operation of email, web, timesheet, and personal information management software used by employees.
∑ Maintains the Monroe County ftp site for incoming/outgoing external data transmission to and from the Internet
∑ Assists with the installation and maintenance of all computer hardware and software used by Monroe County and reviews all voucher requests for new hardware/software to confirm the validity and/or need of each request.
∑ Assists all Monroe County employees with the troubleshooting and diagnosis of all hardware/software problems.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a Bachelorís Degree in Information Technology or related field and 2-5 year experience in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires advanced computer application skills.
The Information Technology Specialist works under the general supervision of the County Clerk/Administrator. Starting salary is $16.57 per hour.
